Students are chosen for the CFA program based on their strengths and skills level exhibited at their performing arts audition and/or visual arts portfolio review; prior training and experiences as stated on the application; recommendations from teachers or others included in the application; and student transcripts and attendance records.

• All auditions will be held at Henrico High School’s Center for the Arts facilities on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025. The inclement weather date is Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025. Make-up auditions are scheduled only in the event of a conflict with an HCPS-sanctioned event (sporting event, band/choral event, etc.) or by a serious medical condition documented by a licensed physician or doctor. All make-up auditions must be coordinated in advance by the CFA Center Director. Students who fail to complete their audition or portfolio review automatically forfeit their HCPS Specialty Center application.

• Students may audition for ONE or TWO discipline areas but may enroll in only ONE area during the freshman year if accepted to the CFA program.

• If you are auditioning for ONE discipline area, please select the session which corresponds to your last name. This selection will determine if your audition is scheduled in the morning or the afternoon.

• If you are auditioning for TWO discipline areas, you will audition for both discipline areas in either the morning (sessions A and B) or afternoon (sessions C and D). Please select the session which corresponds to your last name in at least one area. This selection will determine if both of your audition sessions are scheduled in the morning or in the afternoon.

• Please remember to write down your selected audition session(s)! There is a section below for you to record your audition session/s information.

• Students should be prepared to arrive 10 minutes PRIOR to the START of the audition session and SHOULD REMAIN for the entire time of the audition.

• CHECK-IN LOCATIONS on Audition Day: Performing arts applicants (Dance, Musical Theatre, Theatre) will check in at the Henrico High School main commons area (in front of the auditorium) at least 10 minutes before the audition. Visual arts applicants will check-in at the CFA Visual Arts Building at least 10 minutes before the audition.

• Parents MAY NOT attend the audition. We will have a waiting area in the main commons/auditorium area where parents can relax during their child’s audition. The Friends of Center for the Arts will hold parent information meetings during the audition sessions so prospective parents can learn more about the CFA program while waiting for their student to complete their audition or portfolio review. Please come to the CFA information table in the main commons/auditorium area to sign-up for the parent meeting.
